The Bologna Unit is reviewing the solutions offered by the EU legal order with regards to the response to natural or man-made disasters. The EU system has developed unique and multifaceted mechanism to respond to emergencies occurring within the territory of Member States or in third countries. The legal framework has recently been revised through the Lisbon Treaty and the novelties introduced will be the object of special attention. The Unit focuses also on the level of implementation of IDRL within domestic legal systems, with a particular emphasis on Italy.
